urrounded by the wild nature in Kagoshima, Hananoki Farm has grown crops and pigs together with people with disability over 40 years. Empathizing with its philosophy, we has developed a new concept store called “HANANOKI FARMLAB” which will be a place for Hananoki Farm to develop new products and also express its value to local people. Since the first time we visited their farm, we were inspired by their philosophy, environment, and people. The way to run theirs business was quite alternative. It takes two years through conversation with the owner that the idea of HANANOKI FARMLAB came to real. It is a small store but full of possibility. We designed the store for the owner and local people to explore alternative possibilities of business growth. We also developed a ready-to-eat sandwich product, called BOOKSAND. There is a book store next to HANANOKI FARMLAB and the owner is a big fan of reading books. The package is quite compact and easy to eat sandwiches by one hand. It is because the other hand needs to read a book.
